PREMIUM ROUND 2010

Funds are reminded that the closing date for applications for this year’s premium round is 20 November 2009.

As in previous years, PHIAC has been invited by the Minister to assist her to analyse and assess applications for premium increase from the industry.

PHIAC’s role in the process is at the direction of the Minister, but centres upon identifying whether the increases sought by funds strike an appropriate balance between the interests of consumers and the prudential needs of the funds in question.

In undertaking this role, PHIAC will have regard to the information provided in applications, models held by PHIAC and externally available information.

The advice provided by PHIAC is one of the sources of advice provided to the Minister, who is charged with making decisions about premium increase that are in the public interest.

Funds may, in the course of the process, to be contacted by officers of PHIAC, the Department of Health and Ageing and/or the Minister’s office.
