SOP

Industry Consultation – Proposed Standard Operating Procedure for private health insurers

This circular invites industry and stakeholder comment on the development of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) entitled Accepting a written undertaking given by a Private Health Insurer.  This document is the first in a series of policy papers to be developed by PHIAC, which will provide the industry with a better understanding of insurer obligations under the Private Health Insurance Act 2007 and Council options for monitoring, and, where necessary, intervening in the affairs of an insurer.

PHIAC invites respondents to provide feedback on the draft document by
COB Monday 14 June 2010.  Submissions should be addressed to:

Legal Policy Officer – Enforcement Team
Private Health Insurance Administration Council
PO Box 4549
KINGSTON ACT 2604

Or by email to: phiac@phiac.gov.au marked ‘Enforceable Undertaking’.

Submissions to PHIAC will be treated as public unless clearly marked as confidential. Submissions may be the subject of a request for access made under the Freedom of Information Act 1982.
