Acting Commissioner
This circular is to notify that Mr David Learmonth has been appointed under section 270-10 of the Private Health Insurance Act 2007 as Acting Commissioner for a period of up to three months from 29 August 2010 pending the outcome of a recruitment process for the Commissioner role. Mr Learmonth is the Deputy Secretary in the Department of Health and Ageing with responsibility for private health insurance.
It is accepted practice under caretaker conventions that no significant appointments are made during a caretaker period, such as commenced on 19 July 2010.
Council would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the work of outgoing Council members Mr Peter Annand and Ms Sue Carter who retired from the Council on 28 August 2010, as well as the work of Mr James Dominguez CBE AM whose appointment as the PHIAC Commissioner expired on 21 July 2010.
