Free Eye Examinations
Eligible people can receive free eye examinations with optometrists who bulk-bill Medicare – talk to your local optometrist. You may also receive free eye examinations through government eye hospitals and eye care clinics at selected public hospitals. For more information contact your local Area Health Service (see under Health NSW in the White Pages).
The NSW Government Spectacle Program provides assistance to eligible people with access to a range of free optical appliances including, complete spectacles (single vision and bifocal prescriptions), contact lenses and low vision aids. Eligibility is determined by a means test (income and assets based). Applicants must be Australian residents and permanent residents of NSW.
